Always return to the machine’s normal settings before making a series of small adjustments.

Record the needle type, stitch length and successful settings on a scrap attached to your project notes. That reference saves time when you use the same combination again.

Guide the work instead of forcing it

Let the feed dogs move the fabric. Your hands should keep layers aligned and support their weight, not push or pull against the machine. Pause with the needle down when pivoting and use a folded scrap or levelling tool behind the foot when crossing a bulky seam.

For machine embroidery, stabilise the complete fabric area and test the colour sequence at a smaller commitment. A calm sample reveals density, puckering and thread behaviour before the final piece is at risk.
